Blogging Marathon # 52 - 3 Day Marathon for 4 weeks!

We are starting Mega Marathon today with Baking as the theme for the whole month. Mega BM always seem to excite everybody to no end and there are already so many posts up to read!

You can catch up the action with #FireUpYourOven on any of the social media.

Since the themes were ready long back, I almost wanted to schedule the post. However that skipped thought and I completely forgot. I have to thank Pavani for reminding it this morning and here you have the post. All I had to do was change the time and publish!

Today's announcement is for May 2015.

For those of you who are landing here for the first time, then please read about the history, thought process and the pattern we have been following over the years while doing Blogging Marathon, all in one place in BM#18 intro

For details on BM held every month, check out the Blogging Marathon page. Once I get all details I will be updating this page. Bloggers taking part in the edition announced will have to link back to the Blogging Marathon Page.

The entry is again by Sign ups and each theme will again have only 4 bloggers on first come first basis. I will be unsubscribing members who they don't participate in the next edition.

And because of the new rules I will not be able to accept late sign ups as it will become extremely hard for me to manage otherwise. If you feel you want to do it, please decide ahead, else you can join later.

Commenting on the participating bloggers post is mandatory.

And subscription to the group will be monthly basis.

So the dates will be:  
3, 4, 5 May
10, 11, 12 May
17, 18, 19 May
24, 25, 26 May

FYI:  Requests to join after 08th Apr will not be accepted.

Mandatory rules for this Blogging Marathon are as below:
  • Should take up 2 weeks of BM without fail. It can be any two weeks.
  • Will have to post on all 3 days with 2 weeks without fail
  • You cannot take the same themes, except for the different Kid's Delight theme.
  • Should follow the accepted theme all 3 days, meaning if you choose one topic like Rice, you should post all rice based recipes all 3 days.
  • Should link to the Blogging Marathon page.
  • Is expected to actively give feedback on others post.
  • Mandatory reading and commenting on fellow participating member.
Each theme can be selected by four bloggers on first come first bases. 

Other rules will be mailed to the individuals.

Themes for BM # 52th will be the following:

Kid's Delight theme ensures my Kid's Delight event, guest hosted by other bloggers gets good entries. Since the event is 16th - 15th every month, we have two different themes happening for BM. And you have the choice of doing two different themes. 

Kid's Delight - Creamy Foods  (3,4,5 and 10,11,12)
Kid's Delight - Snacking all the way (17,18,19 and 24,25,26)

Please note all entries for Kid's Delight theme have to be kid approved. The dish can be either approved by your own kid, your young relatives, neighbors or even something that you enjoyed as a kid. Do remember to mention the age group of the kid, so that it becomes easy for others.

Kid's Delight - Creamy Foods (3,4,5 and 10,11,12)

The 1st and 2nd week of May will be hosted by Mireille. She will be announcing the event on her blog by April 16th with theme "Creamy Foods ". Creamy Foods includes all puddings/kheer, custards and ice cream etc. All approved by kids.

Kid's Delight -  Snacking all the way (17,18,19 and 24,25,26) 

The 3rd and 4th week of  May will be hosted by Sandhya Ramakrishnan  She will be announcing the event on her blog by May 16th with theme "Snacking all the way". All Kid Friendly Snack dishes, it can again depend on individual idea on what they consider snack for their kid. Please however ensure it's either lunch box packed or evening snack.

Weekend Special Dinner

This is typically what you will plan for your weekend dinner meal. It can be simple as a wrap or can be elaborate. It can be anything special.

For a typical South Indian family, regular South Indian food will be normal, so special could mean a wrap or a pasta. Or an elaborate meal such as baking a pizza from scratch. So let your creativity work and showcase what you will make for your family.

Cooking Substitutions 

This can include Cooking mode, Utensils, Molds, Recipes etc.

For example, if there is no Kulfi mould, you can use a small bowl/paper cup. Muruku Press for western recipes.
No oven? Try pressure cooker.
Substituting 7" pan instead of 9"? then what are the things you need to watch out for (like the difference in time in baking and filling the batter)

The list can be endless. Don't limit yourself to the lists I have mentioned. Anyway that you substitute, share those ideas and recipes.

Season Fruits/Veg on Spotlight

This refers to the fresh produce in your region. In India, it would be Mangoes. So select either fruit or vegetable that's fresh and available in your region during this season. You can either cook one Fruit/Veg for 3 days, else showcase 3 different fresh produce

Traditional Temple Recipes

I wanted this theme to only showcase those typical Temple recipes. Since it will be extremely hard to get the actual recipe, you can create your own. However please make sure these are offered in temples. And not just the regular neivedyams we prepare at home.

Readymade Products 

This theme refers to all those commercially available food products.

For example like Pancake batter, Ketchups, Jams, ready to use batters etc.

A north Indian who does not know how to grind Dosa Batter, they can make at home.  While this will not be accepted for a south Indian.

A North Indian can try their hand at making Tamarind Rice Mix etc

Other examples would be Homemade Tomato Sauce, Mayonnaise sauce, Puliyodai Ready to Mix packs etc. Anything that's not your cuisine, that you have been buying it as ready to use packets, now you try your hands at making it at home.

Parsi Food

All Parsi Food, it can be any course

Special Theme - Do three weeks and for the 4th week you get to do the special theme.

BM Bookmarked - either own or from others

This special theme is open for those who do all the first three weeks.
