We are entering into the 19th edition of Blogging Marathon.

You can read about all the history, the thought process that's gone in everything in one place in the BM#18 intro

For details on BM, check out the Blogging Marathon page. Once I get all details I will be updating this page. Bloggers taking part in this marathon need to just link back to this page.

The entry is again by Sign ups and each theme will again have only 4 bloggers on first come first basis.

And because of the new rules I will not be able to accept late sign ups as it will become extremely hard for me to manage otherwise. If you feel you want to do it, please decide ahead, else you can join later.

Commenting on the week blogger's post is mandatory.

And subscription to the group will be monthly basis.

If you want to know how the Blogging Marathon started, read the first edition

So the 19th edition will
3, 4, 5 August
10, 11, 12 August
17, 18, 19 August
24, 25, 26 August

Please email me at spicingyourlife@gmail.com latest by 23rd July along with your theme.

FYI:  Requests to join after 23rd July will not be accepted.

Mandatory rules for this Blogging Marathon are as below:
  • Should take up 2 weeks of BM without fail. It can be any two weeks.
  • Will have to post on all 3 days with 2 weeks without fail
  • Same theme can't be taken by one blogger.
  • Should follow the accepted theme all 3 days, meaning if you choose one topic like Rice, you should post all rice based recipes all 3 days.
  • Should link to the Blogging Marathon page.
  • Is expected to actively give feedback on others post.
  • Mandatory reading and commenting on fellow participating member.
Each theme can be selected by four bloggers on first come first bases.

Other rules will be mailed to the individuals.

Themes for BM #19 will be the following:

Since having this theme is to make sure my Kid's Delight event gets good entries, I thought it makes sense to have two themes based on the hosting time.

Kid's Delight - Warm foods to beat the rain (3,4,5 and 10,11,12)
Kid's Delight - Chocolates (17,18,19 and 24,25,26)

Kid's Delight - Warm foods to beat the rain (3,4,5 and 10,11,12)

If you want to do Kid's delight for the first two weeks, then you will have to make some delicious warm dishes to beat the rain!. While we have had food to chill the summer, this edition asks you to make those dishes that warms you up for Rain. So make any dish that kids would love to eat during rains, it can be a warm soup, an interesting snack, anything that makes it great to watch the rain and enjoy! And send them to Pradnya

Kid's Delight - Chocolates (17,18,19 and 24,25,26)

August Edition of Kid's Delight, starting from 16th August will be hosted by Vaishali and the theme is Chocolates!

Well we all know that kids love chocolates, so make a dish featuring chocolate as the main. The dish can be made with cocoa, white chocolate, dark chocolate and whatever chocolate you find. Only condition applied is it should be Eggless.

30 Minute Meal

Should be a complete meal prepared within 30 mins. Can use things that are pre-soaked, pre-fermented like Channa, Dosa/Idli batter etc. Rest of it is not accepted. Even Rice soaking has to be within the 30 mins. And you can't showcase only Dosa/Idli on all days. It has to be different course or meal.

By complete meal, you can make one pot meals, Breakfast items that comprises a main dish and a side dish for examples like Upma and chutney. Dosa and chutney roti and subji etc. However all three days need to be different.

Cooking with Greens

You are welcome to select any one of the three combo and make three different dishes as I have specified. For example if you select combo 1, then you will have to make a bread with greens, a rice and a gravy. You can't make one dish from Combo 1 and one from Combo 2.

Combo 1
Indian Bread
Rice
Gravy

Combo 2
Stuffed in and cooked
As a Spread (on any dish and served or cooked)
Blended (Mixed in the flour and cooked or baked, made a smoothie etc)

Combo 3
As the main Ingredient (like Palak Paneer)
Mixed with a tuber (Tuber vegetables, like the yam, the manioc, the sweet potato, the potato and the Jerusalem artichoke can be used)
Deep fried/Steamed

Recipes using Chai and Coffee

Recipes using Tea or coffee, but not just variations of flavored coffee or chai. It should be coffee or chai used as flavorings in cooking savory dishes or desserts. You can use both instant and other varieties.

Calcium Rich Food

As it says, dish out calcium rich food, focusing on the main ingredient. The dish should showcase the calcium rich food as the main ingredient. It can't be just a teaspoon or something like that.

You can refer the net for more details on what are the top calcium rich foods.

Cooking from BM Blogs

When I thought of this theme, I was so happy that I finally could cook from my friends and enjoy the virtual treats they give us.

So select a BM member, cook all three dishes from their space and enjoy! You can select one of the regular members, else you can select the theme and select the blogger later as well.

You can select different themes or from same theme but it should be from this edition and from the blog you select.

Gourmet Gravies

As the name suggests, the gravies have to be rich, and creamy. Can be from any cuisine, served with either Indian Bread or Rice. Can't be your regular subjis that you make everyday. By gourment and rich I refer to those gravies made with any of the pastes like almond, cashew, poppy, fried onions, or other ingredients that are used for giving creamy thick and rich texture.

Atleast for two of the posts you must have step by step pictures and should be made with

Special Theme - Do three weeks and for the 4th week you get to do a combo of your 1 & 3 themes in any order.

This is accepted only for the 4th week.

Please spread the details if you want your friends to be part of this marathon.

Let's gear up for another non stop blogging!

Valli, question regarding cooking from BM blogs..

1. Under this theme, can we cook any dish from one of the BM blogs or

2. do we have to cook 3 dishes from this blog, that fall under 3 different themes that are available in BM19. eg: day 1 theme 3, day 2 theme 4 & day 3 theme 7 and all three dishes are cooked from one BM blog.

wait a minute - just read this (after I sent you email) - so it can't just be any 3 dishes from fellow blogger - it has to be 3 dishes that fall within BM#19 themes? Please confirm

Hi Valli,

I have submitted my preferred theme via email... Since this is my first time, I would need more guidance and I will be good from next.

Thanks and appreciate your understanding.
