It feels wonderful that the Blogging Marathon has come a long way. BM 13th Edition saw about 30 bloggers joining for the 14 long non stop days of blogging on various themes. While some did a week, there were some who took up two weeks of challenge. I have always enjoyed their dedication and interest in churning out delicious and tempting recipes and matching the themes on top.
While all along, the thought and idea behind Blogging Marathon has always been to support all types of bloggers, be a month old or have couple of years over them, we have now reached a stage where it has become important that we take up bloggers who have the passion and dedication to justify the readers time. It becomes very important to make sure each blogger who signs up, show a certain level of maturity, dedication and in general being conscious of the reader's time. So towards that, it is decided that the group has some entry criteria in place. Each blog will scrutinized to make sure it fits the requirement before being accepted for the marathon.
There is no rule in BM that says one should write prose from English literature or take pictures that will fit a glossy magazine. However a certain degree of these are required to make a good read, which your readers will appreciate and will make them loyal readers.
Towards this, it is mandatory that when you sign up, you decide to spend valuable time being part of the group. That also means, no hasty and hurried posts, no posts that looks like last minute dished out recipes with blurry pictures that may be from nowhere. Your posts should have a mandatory picture of the dish published. Sticking to a reasonable time frame of posting as per the rules of the marathon is expected.
In addition to this, each theme is also restricted to only four bloggers on first come first bases. If you are selecting a theme that's already picked up, you will have to select another theme. If more bloggers sign up, a case by case decision will be taken.
This is to make sure we don't have 10 bloggers doing the same theme where it does become very monotonous.
I have been proud of the way BM has paved way to build a great community. The group makes sure we read and support each other. If you have been following us, then you know that not only do we support the other blogger by reading and commenting, we also have private discussions which is an open forum. Being part of this group means, you got to actively take part in the discussions and to read the other participating blogger posts. If you are not ready for this, then this is not for you.

So the 14th edition will 16th - 22nd March and the second group will start on 23rd - 29th March.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org latest by 12th March along with your theme.
FYI: Requests to join after 12th March will not be accepted.
Mandatory rules for this Blogging Marathon are as below:
- Will have to post on all 7 days without fail
- Should follow the accepted theme all 7 days, meaning if you choose one topic like Rice, you should post all rice based recipes all 7 days.
- Should link to the Blogging Marathon page.
- Should actively give feedback on others post.

Each theme can be selected by four bloggers on first come first bases.
Blogger doing the second week can do three themes during the second week.

Kid's Delight - Easy to make Snacks under 30 mins
As usual we have another theme coming up for the Kid's Delight. This edition hosted by Rujuta,
will be calling for ideas to whip up some quick, easy to make snacks under 30 mins for Kids. This theme is for specific age group, so please be specific in mentioning that. I am looking at age group 5 - 10 years, it can be different if your kids are of different age group. As per the event rules, the dish can be something that is kid approved. It can also be something that you loved as a kid yourself.
Whole Grains Dishes
Bring out those dishes that you know, made with whole grains. Wiki
says "Whole grains are cereal grains that contain cereal germ, endosperm, and bran, in contrast to refined grains, which retain only the endosperm." Check out the list of whole grains and make sure you make dishes with whole grain.
It is not mandatory that you use seven different grains, though posting only whole wheat grain for all seven days will be boring. Variety will surely be appreciated in form of different grains used and different category of recipe showcased. You can use the whole grain flour to bake bread or cake.

Now this is my favorite and no prize for guessing what I will be taking this up. As a self professed lover of Dosa, it is my most favorite breakfast, lunch or dinner and in between too. I am planning on making some interesting versions, so join me in the fun!
The Dosas featured in this can't be just the usual/regular Dosa batter mixed up with something else. It is mandatory that the recipe has to be a new proportion or variation to the regular one.

Eggless Baking with Fruits and Nuts
This can be muffins, cakes or breads or even savory dishes having fried fruits and nuts. You can serve it for breakfast or snack. Make it kid friendly or vegan. Anything is fine.
Traditional dishes with a twist
I know I am in for a trouble with this theme. But I am looking forward to see some out of the box thinking here. The rule is very clear, take traditional dish and recreate it with a twist. Traditional can include so many factors. Even making the regular dish and presenting in a new way can fall under this. Like making an Punjabi Tikka Pizza can be an apt example. This is more like a fusion cooking in other words.
Vegan Friendly Dishes

, a vegan diet includes all grains, beans, legumes, vegetables and fruits and the nearly infinite number of foods made by combining them. Many vegan versions of familiar foods are available, so you can eat vegan hot dogs, ice cream, cheese and vegan mayonnaise.
Most of our Indian recipes can easily fall under Vegan friendly recipes. But the rule for the theme is to select a non vegan dish and make it a vegan. You cannot post a regular Ven Pongal, minus the ghee and call it a vegan. Or simply call our regular Pooris as Vegan friendly because as such is naturally vegan friendly.
The challenge is to take up a non vegan dish and make it a vegan.
Festival Food - Quick and Easy Mithai

With Indian Festivals round the corner you can whip up some quick and easy sweets as offerings. It can be your usual prasadams or any sweets that you can offer on the festival day. Again the type of sweet can't be repeated, for example if you make a ladoo for a day, it can't be repeated again during the other six days.
